When it comes to knowing who makes the best refrigerator, there are a number of factors you have to take into consideration.
You have to look at a number of factors including: price, number of models available, usable features, reliability, warranty offerings and the like.
We considered a number of brands, but only focused on those brands that make all different types of refrigerators. From side by side, bottom freezer, top freezer to french door refrigerators. (If you're looking for some of the specific top models, be sure to check out our Top 10 Refrigerators.)
So, variety of product available, durability, consistancy in reviews from both the general public as well as testing agencies such as Consumer Reports and of course our own internal testing well help you determine who makes the best refrigerator.
What follows below are the refrigerator brands that top our lists in every category. Now, keep in mind these brands have the widest variety of product available, the most consistent positive reviews (from consumers and testing agencies), and the least amount of traceable repair records.

Top Refrigerator Brands
The 4 brands we selected are:
Amana is interesting, because since they're now owned and manufactured by Whirlpool, you could technically say they are simply a Whirlpool brand. That said, they are still gaining in overall popularity and there are a number of high quality, extremely affordable models.
One of the more popular styles is the Amanda French Door Refrigerators which offer side by side refrigerator doors with a pullout bottom drawer freezer.
Amanas have consistently low repair records, with high customer satisfaction.
Whirlpool is by far the largest American brand of refrigerators. You may not realize it, but Whirlpool manufactures a number of well-known brands such as Amana, Maytag and even the Sears exclusive line from Kenmore. So, when trying to understand who makes the best refrigerator, Whirlpool is a good place to start.
Whirlpool has a HUGE variety of models available in almost every price range and style. In addition, Whirlpool refrigerators are well known for their energy efficiency and innovative features.
LG Refrigerators have a number of really unique features. Especially if you're in the market for a stainless steel French Door refrigerator, you'll be happily surprised with the number of models and quality of construction.
Granted, LG has been a bit inconsistent when it comes to consumer reviews, but for the most part, LG has a number of great refrigerator models to consider.
LG is one of the few refrigerator manufacturers to offer up the "two bottom drawer freezer" (Model LG LMX28987ST) -- which although not exceptionally energy efficient, offers up extreme convenience and innovation.
General Electric is still a leader in this category. Although the General Electric company has a wide variety of product available in all sorts of different categories, their line of refrigerators still manages to get consistant high marks.
GE is well-known for making high quality, affordable refrigerators in a wide variety of styles -- and colors. From high end built-in units, to first-time-refrigerator-owner top freezer units that are perfect for any apartment and can be priced less than $600.00.
This list is by no means an exhuastive one. It's simply meant to give you a starting place on who makes the best refrigerator. For more information, be sure to click around the rest of our site to see what other (maybe smaller) brands have to offer.
