I recently purchased a GE 22 cubic foot, side-by-side refrigerator from abt.com. This is the exact one that I bought: GE-GSH22JFXBB.

My first thoughts about the refrigerator were that it is well constructed, with plenty of room (at least for my family - we have three kids). Upon further inspection, which I didn't realize when I bought it, I discovered that it has a built-in filtered water dispenser. I knew it dispensed water, but I didn't realize it was filtered! So, that was a pleasant surprise.

I've since found it has adjustable shelves to make room for the tall items I need to refrigerate.

I also like how quiet it is. Some refrigerators can be noisy when they are reloading the ice dispenser etc.

Abt has some good customer service as well. I had to call in with a few questions, and they were very friendly and helpful. You can buy other refrigerators from them, not just the GE brand.

 The Opposite of My BAD Experience!!

Here's a review of this GE side by side refrigerator that is the exact opposite of mine.

I have the exact same model that came with my new home. If it had been up to me I'd have returned it the first week.

My fridge runs 24 hours a day and makes the most annoying noises one could ever imagine. It makes a constant humming/metallic buzzing sound that is like fingernails on a chalk board to me,the compressor, I presume.

On the rare occasion that it does shut off, when it turns on again, the noise is especially loud for about 5 minutes. Sometimes it sounds like a chicken clucking and occasionally I hear a whirring sound like the icemaker tray actuator is struggling to push the ice cubes out.

I'm told that these are all normal and due to the new "high energy efficiency design." I'd pay x100 more for a little peace in my kitchen!

Honestly, I could take great pleasure in pushing this thing off a cliff and watching it shatter to bits on the way down.

In fact, I might on the way to get a new one, cause I don't think I can stand this one much longer!

We have gotten lots of great comments on GE side by side refrigerators and I'm not surprised you really like it.

Let us know over time if it has any problems but in general we aren't used to getting many complaints on them.
