GE Side by Side Refrigerator - Chilled Water Coming Out Warm

by Jim
(Surrey B.C.)

I bought a GE side-by-side refrigerator with a water dispenser from Home Depot.

One of my biggest complaints is that the "so-called" chilled water comes out in the high 40°F. I called GE, and they told me that 40 degrees is what they consider chilled. HUH?

Having been a plumber for over 40 years, I can tell you that high 40°F is not chilled water. Knowing all that I do about plumbing, in refrigerators or out, I knew this was not right.

I informed them that they had a design problem. The water line is too close to the compressor, causing the water to heat up. In the end, they want nothing to do with it.

So, in the end, I'm stuck with a fridge that the company tells me is just fine, but it doesn't work for me. So frustrating! I wish there were a recall on this issue so that I could force them to deal with it!
