KitchenAid Refrigerator Review (model KBRS19KTSS2)

by Mary Ann
(Middlesex, NY)

We bought our KitchenAid refrigerator just under two years ago in August of 2009.

I think you should be able to expect that a refrigerator should continue working for more than 2 years. But that's not the case here.

The air flow not working in our fridge and this isn't the first time this has happened. A repair man coming out to fix it for the 3rd time in 2 months. The earliest available appointment was in 4 days!!

In the past he could not find the problem. Good thing I have a warranty. I absolutely hate this product. I hope the company honors my warranty and replaces it. It cost over $1500.

Same Problem
by: Roger Bednarchuk (Montreal Qc)

@Dona

I had the exact same problem twice. The first time, (a month and a half ago) the repairman came and tinkered around with the drain pan and removed the rear panel from the freezer, which like yourself, was working. It was thick with frost (look in the little holes). He removed the ice and it just began to function by itself.... $220.00 for this minimal service...
Last Saturday the same thing occurred, meaning the refrigerator stopped fuctionning and the freezer continued on without an issue.
Again, we called the repairman, and this time he did more research in regards to the history of this model, and as a result the problem was with the BIMETAL THERMOSTAT.
He claims that almost all new refrigerators have electronic thermostats and are vulnerable to power surges. According to him, the best remedy is to acquire a decent power surge protector and this will avoid the whole problem. By the way... another $310.00 for this repair, however it seems more legitimate.

Hope this helps.

Cheers!

KitchenAid Refrigerator KBRS19KTSS Is a Lemon!!
by: Dona (Montreal, QC)

HELP!! This KitchenAid fridge is a lemon.

The bottom freezer works and the upper fridge turns off for days and turns back on for a day or two. The repairman says its an itermittant problem!

Well, I need a full time fridge. It takes days for a repairman to come. My fridge was two years old in January 2011. I have lost two grocery orders worth of food. As I write today, I am still waiting for a repairman. I want a new fridge!
