Kitchen Aid Stainless Steel Refrigerator that is Magnetic!!

by Gisela
(San Antonio, Tx)

We just bought a KitchenAid - 25.0 Cu. Ft. Side by Side Refrigerator - Stainless-Steel, Model: KSRS25MWMS.

They did not have that model in the store, so we purchased it from the catalog . We were surprised when we got it that a magnet stuck to the "stainless-Steel" door. We know that stainless steel will not hold a magnet. Just how much stainless steel is in this product??? Or is just a stainless steel "look"?

If anyone can help us out it would be greatly appreciated.

Otherwise so far it seems like a great side by side refrigerator.

magnetic stainless steel
by: Chris

There are different types of stainless steel (depending on the other metals that are alloyed with the steel), some which are magnetic and some that aren't.

Another possibility is that some appliances have a (magnetic) metal core with a layer of stainless steel on top, and magnets will stick to these. However, from what I've read, this is more common on dishwashers.

Consider yourself lucky - lots of people are disappointed to find that their fun collection of holiday memento magnets, alphabet letters, and handy calendars won't stick to their new fridge!
