We bought a GE Bottom drawer freezer and refrigerator (model# GF030768) a few years ago, and ever since then we have had technicians come out at least twice a year, the warranty expired within two years. We paid $5,000.00 6 years ago, plus any service calls.

GE is awful with their help for customers.

As for the refrigerator, the freezer always builds ice in the back of vents, which makes the refrigerator go to 50 degrees because there is no ventilation on the bottom.

We have to defrost this ice with a hair dryer, which requires doing that at least every month.

The ice maker broke a few times we have had to get parts numerous times.

The seal on the freezer had to be replaced because it was no longer sealed.

Many more problems, too long to write them all down. My suggestion DON'T buy GE appliances.

I have a Amana refrigerator in my basement that is going strong after 15 years with no problem, and that was $ 4,000.00 less than GE.

I feel bad, I really liked it

I have a 1943 or 1945 General Electric refrigerator in my garage that has run everyday for 70+ years. It was my grandmothers, my mothers and today it is mine. Only had to defrost it once or twice a year! Now, my kitchen GE bottom freezer frige ... after several "defrost the freezer fan with the hair dryer" episodes, the repairman says there is a leak in the cooling element and would be too costly to repair. I am now busy taking everything out of it, to put in the 70 year old refrigerator while I go on the hunt for a new one! Goes to show that old saying "just don't make them like they used to" IS TRUE!
