KitchenAid Bottom Freezer Model Refrigerator Review: Only 3 Years Old and Already Dying!!

I purchased a KitchenAid bottom freezer model three years ago this month (October 2010), and just this past week end had my frig fail...and repairman from KitchenAid told me it was the fan motor which caused the frig to fail, and the freezer to frost up like crazy.

It was Thanksgiving here in Canada, and I lost all of my leftovers plus milk and tons of other stuff b/c of this issue, and then no repairman available until today Thursday, Oct 14th.

The repairman has to order the part, which will take a week, he said, so I need to continue to pay for the repair, on a 15 minute basis. This is because the part is not under warranty. Go figure!

He also said that once the new part is installed I have to run the frig for a week or so to make sure things are running OK, as it may still not work, which would mean the 'board' may be faulty, which will cost a lot more money to fix.

I am extremely frustrated as this frig is only 3 years old and cost $1,800. I had to run out and buy a bar frig to get me thru until my frig is repaired, so that cost me another $300!!

I am PISSED!!

Wow, I happen to have the same model and yeah it is just working fine. I never had to face any issues in the past 2 years at all. The one before this one was such a pain in the arse though. I would recommend it to anyone.

I Agree This KitchenAid Refrigerator is a Bad Product
by: Sam

I bought a KitchenAid bottom freezer refrigerator model only 9 months ago & have already had the repairman out to reset the temperature controls.

According to him it was an "internal" setting that should have been set at the factory.

Also, the shelving brackets make it impossible to put much in the fridge.

A very poor design. Wish I could return it.
