Can a refrigerator's height be lowered?

Can I lower the height of my fridge? The opening I have is 68" and the frig is 68 1/2". Is it possible?

mfg companies are making it extremely difficult for owners of homes that cannot fit the new standard size units. There are still plenty of homes that cannot put over 67 inch units into homes and to give answer of cut off cabinets is really a horrible answer.

While there is a bit of give with leveling a refrigerator, there really isn't anything more you can do to change the height. Specifically the fact that it's too big.

Sounds like you may have to shorten the cabinets above it or get another fridge.
