Whirlpool Refrigerators just got bit bigger because the Whirlpool Corporation recently acquired the Maytag brand. This adds Maytag to an already impressive family of refrigerator manufacturers like Amana, KitchenAid, and JennAir.

Whirlpool is definitely one of the more affordable and reliable refrigerator lines. So, if you’re looking for a good but affordable freezer fridge, the Whirlpool line of products might be just what you’re looking for.

Currently the Whirlpool refrigerator brand itself has sixty six (66) different models in its line ranging in price from about $550 to about $2900.

Many of the Whirlpool fridges have the Energy Star certification.

  • TIP: Did you know that replacing a refrigerator purchased in 1990 with a new Energy Star model for a year would save enough energy to light a typical family home for just over four months!

Whirlpool fridges are known for their efficiency, so consider replacing that ol' energy burner with a new Energy Star certified model.

  • Multipoint White LED Lighting: This is one of our favorite features available on the Whirlpool models because it creates a much more natural look and brightens up your fridge. It also doesn't generate heat to save you on your energy bills


  • In-Door-Ice® Plus Ice Dispensing System with Fast Ice: This is another great feature offered by Whirlpool. This system places the ice dispenser and the ice collection bin in the freezer door to save on freezer space.

    The In-Door-Ice system can make and dispense ice as quickly as most standard ice makers (in fact in our tests, even faster in many cases). This system will also feed ice to an ice and water dispenser so you don't have to open the freezer door to get ice.

    One thing we loved at RefrigeratorPro.com was how they made it easy to remove the ice collection bin from the freezer and its shape makes it double perfectly as an ice bucket.There are 14 models in all that have this feature.


  • Energy Star Refrigerators: Lastly, one more word about the Energy Star products that Whirlpool offers. Whirlpool currently has THIRTY-SEVEN (37) refrigerators with the Energy Star label. This percentage is very impressive compared to the other brands out there.
