whirlpool EL7ATRRMQ08

by Ann B.
(Waterproof, Louisiana)

I bought my Whirlpool refrigerator only and the freezer only units 4 years ago. The refrigerator had a Freon leak and of course the warranty has already gone out.

The freezer makes a terrible noise.

I paid well over $1000 for each unit and they don't have any more confidence in their product than to warranty them for 1 year???????

This is a racket...they know they are going to go out so you have to spend another $1200 to replace it...and it is not going to match the freezer!

The real loser in this is the land fill...there is nothing wrong with mine...it is not even dirty.

I don't know if I will have another choice but to buy from these crooks again. Cut your nose off to spite your face?

Whirlpool Side by Side Freon Leak
by: Anonymous

We built our house 5 years ago and bought all new appliances. So far the dishwasher (Maytag) has gone out and the now the side by side. They said the repair will cost $730 and they can't even guarantee that it will fix it completely!

The appliance repairman said the new refridgerators are all alike and you might as well buy the cheapest one you can find because it will not last! He said the freon that our government allows us to use now is corrosive and eats through the metal parts

Another Case of the Refrigerator Freon Leak...
by: Anonymous

I just read the first two comments and the EXACT same thing happened to mine.

First I had a leak in the freezer ice maker and the repairman just shook his head when he saw the units I had purchased. He told me then that they were junk.

Well, I just called him back and it's a freon leak in the fridge. He said the leak is internal and we need to replace the four year old unit.

Another one going to the landfill!

Plus, I'll never find another to match the freezer and my cabinets are built around it.

Last Whirlpool purchase ever!

Whirlpool Fridge
by: Anonymous

I bought my Whirlpool refrigerator six months ago and I already had to replace the filter and now is not making ice. Best of all the ice maker is very loud.

The technician came to repair it and said the line is frozen. How can the line be frozen when I have no problem with water dispenser? Is this common?

We bought Whirlpool SideKick fridge/Freezer 2 years ago and it has developed a freon leak.

The repairman told us these units are known to have this problem. And since these are sealed units there is no way to fix them, so our fridgerator is also heading to landfill.

Obviously we'll never buy Whirlpool products and any product from it's subsidiaries (like Maytag, Jenn-Air and Fridgidare).

We're buying a Samsung next since it appears if you want to buy American you'll have to have deep pockets filled with lots of money since you'll be replacing the unit every few years.

I'm so mad about the customer service regarding this, that I'm going to complain on every review board I can find.

Such a shame...
by: HeidiPro

Such a shame to hear you've already had so many problems with these two units.
