Whirlpool Gold Refrigerator (model GSF26C5EXW000)

by Rick S
(Naperville, IL)

We strongly regret buying this Whirlpool Gold refrigerator. We had to buy a new refrigerator because our Maytag died after only 6 years (compressor failed). This happened the day before Thanksgiving so we had to get a replacement quickly.

We were told that the Whirlpool was better quality than Maytag (both made by the same company) and we foolishly decided to get this refrigerator. The biggest problem is that it is extremely noisy. There is an internal fan/motor that moves cold air from the freezer to the refrigerator compartment which comes on frequently and makes a loud rattling noise.

We thought there was a problem but the Whirlpool service tech said no, that's how it's supposed to work. We can hear this loud noise even while listening to the TV in a room 20 feet away.

Also, there is a high pitched buzzer sound that is made whenever you dispense ice or water and this same sound occurs when any automatic function happens such as filling water to the ice maker or cold water reservoir.

The bottom line is that this refrigerator will annoy you and drive you crazy with the constant and loud noises.
