Does anyone know about the ice bucket in the door ?

I have read about some people are having problems with the Whirlpool. My Kenmore #SU1535616 was a nightmare with the other type of Ice maker. We also had the sears repair guys here 3 times. 2 Times for the Ice maker and one time for the thermostat. This time the thermostat went again..That's why I am going for a Whirlpool..But is a Whirlpool a Kenmore?
