I HATE My Whirlpool Side-by-Side Refrigerator (model #ED5LVAXWS02)

I've owned this Whirlpool side-by-side refrigerator for just over one year and I have grown to HATE it.

I am on my third service call related to the ice maker. The through the door unit freezes up and will not dispense ice.

As the A&E service men told me "the design of this unit is faulty. It leaks air back into the freezer which causes the problem." The first service call replaced a known bad part - a plastic piece that broke. The metal version supposedly has more spring pressure designed to keep the ice chute closed. It doesn't work as I can see frost forming inside the door. The dispensing unit freezes up to the point it will not work AND cannot be removed.

The only option is to open the freezer and break out a hair dryer and towels. After manually defrosting and drying, you can expect the problem to return within 30-45 days.

The internet consumer postings have numerous mentions of this problem. I would NOT recommend anyone else buy this Whirlpool appliance or any other.
