LG Bottom Freezer Refrigerator

I have had my LG bottom Freezer Fridge for approximately 5 years. I had expected it to last a lot longer considering the amount of money we paid for it. It was seen as one of the top of the line models at the time.

Then one morning I woke up and my floor was covered with gunk from everything in my fridge unthawing and caused a huge mess. I called every service repair person in my area and I was told that no one will touch an LG fridge, because they are very sticky about warranty.

I told them there was no warranty to worry about and they said you are better off getting a new fridge, because it sounds like it's beyond repair. All this from a phone call?

Anyway I have learned my lesson, and will go back to the brand names that I am familiar with and stay there. Never getting an LG appliance again. The last fridge I had was GE and I sold it after 10 years and it was still running perfectly and I paid way less than the LG.

GE here I come!!

Don't ever by any thing LG

LG has several class action lawsuits regarding there French door frigs. Main problem - Repair services are not allowed to get the parts they need from anyone except their preferred vendors, Warrenty companies cannot get payment from LG and so most appliances repair services won't touch an LG - 5 year extended worthless!!!!!!!!!!!!! Over a month since we had a working refrigerator. Compressor shot and God knows what else. Only had it for less than 18 months! Smart technology - total farce. Home Depot worthless.

Don't buy an LG
by: Anonymous

I have had an LG frig for 6 years. It has broken down 4 times and is dead right now. It has burned out the fan moter 2-3 times. We bought a used frig for $150 and put it in our garage for when teh LG goes down. Lucky we did or we would be out $$$ for all the lost food.

My daughter is having the same problem with her LG freezer. We both have LG and both are having problems with the top light staying on after the door is closed because the next morning, it's warm inside and the plastic light cover has melted on both.

LG Refridgerator Doors Not Closing
by: IR

I bought LG refrigerator (model LFX25971) 3 years ago.

Three months later the ice maker needed repair and now the french doors not closing like they should.

I called a repair man and he said he cannot fix it. He called LG for me and they said to put cooking oil (any variety) on the black rubber between the doors. I am wary of doing this and I am researching other options.

I was lucky that I bought a 5 year warranty so I would not have pay out of pocket expenses. I am wary of buying another refridgerator but I hope this can last another few years.

Whatever happened to appliances lasting 20 years? How is that now the good ol' days?

Yes, LG refrigerators suck!!

After two years all of the plastic inserts holding the drawers broke. I tried to find replacements but have had not luck. Now after 4 years the lower board and cord shorted out.

The repairman I finally found to repair the unit said that this is a very common problem for LG refrigerators and that there should really be a recall.

I paid over $2500 for this junk and I will probably end up paying for it until I can afford to buy a new one.

I suggest staying far away from any and all LG appliances.

LG is NOT a Reliable Refrigerator
by: Anonymous

We paid 3K for the LG french door with bottom refrigerator model 3 years ago.

One month out of warranty the freezer needed repair for a cracked plastic component? The following year the freezer required repair again in the main circuit board?

Today I woke to all the contents of the refrigerator frozen solid. Of course LG just refers you to a service center.

Make sure you buy an extended warranty if you get an LG because you will need it.

We are never buying another LG product of any kind again!
