Bought our Maytag side by side refrigerator 6 yrs ago to replace a 23 yr old GE.

Now, exactly 1 yr after the warranty expired, the compressor is gone. Trying to decide whether to replace the compressor or the fridge.

I am disgusted with the quality. Maytag used to be a reliable, quality brand, but evidently not anymore.

I definitely won't buy another one. I'd rather buy American-made products, but they're hard to find . So far, all of the Made in USA refrigerators I've seen are too expensive for me to afford.
