when i plug in a new refrigerator,do i need to leave it a while before storing my food?

by allan
(ayr)

I plugged in my new refrigerator but I don't know if it gets cold right away or if I should have waited to see if it got cold first.

Instead I put everything back into the fridge right away and forgot to check if it started working right away. Is there any way to tell if it items are safe to eat? Or should I just empty it all out and start new.

I would hate to have to do that because I will have lost so much food and the cost to that isn't cheap.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do? I am worried to eat what I have in there.
