Samsung French Door Refrigerator Review (Model # RF263AE)

by Judy
(Louisiana)

Here's my Samsung french door refrigerator review of model #RF263AE.

My Samsung fridge was delivered on May 8,2010 -- so I have had it about 4-5 months.

I am pleased with the everything so far except that I hear a popping sound that it makes every 1-3 hours. It sounds like it's coming from the freezer area. I don't know what it is and I'm trying to find out if it is something to be concerned about. I need to know what it is while it is still under warranty.

If anyone has had this experience or knows what it is please let me know.

My Samsung is Also Making a Popping Sound
by: Anonymous

I had the same problem with my Samsung RB217 (single door refrigerator) after about 8 months.

Samsung said it was a normal sound when the heater thaws the coils. They also told me the French Door models don't have the problem because the coils are designed different.

They sent a tech out and he confirmed what they had said. The sound is the aluminum coils popping when the fridge goes through a thaw cycle.

Mine kept getting worse and I finally got through to Executive Customer Care and they agreed to exchange it for a RB215 and it popped within the first hour of being turned on.

I would not accept this and they finally agreed to refund my full purchase price at the 13 month mark, so they know they have a problem.

The Tech says the days of 15 - 20 years on a fridge are gone. The way they are made now expect 5 - 8 years. We'll be lucky to get 10.
