Refrigerator Interior Insulation

My refrigerator's interior insulation is exposed due to shelf rest being knocked in transit.

The corner is broken inside showing a bit of the interior insulation. Is it still safe to use?

I was told by a refrigeration engineer to paint it with gloss, it will seal the insulation and just needs a top up of gloss every now and then

i have the same problem as my darling pubescent daughter slammed the door in a fit of rage and the pieces that hold the trays on have come away. like you i am worried about the gases tht could be leaking into the fridge because i know you have to have a specialist dispose of them because of this. i havent been able to find out if mine is safe either.
