My Bosch French Door Refrigerator is TOO LOUD!!

I just purchased a Bosch 25 cu. ft. french door refrigerator and it is too loud!!


I just hate it because of the noise it makes from both the compressor and a recirculating fan. It seems to be making sounds 24 hours a day!

Bosch says that is the way it is supposed to sound due to the fact that the freezer moves air to the refrigerator.

The good news is the store is willing to replace my refrigerator with another brand. I am looking for something as quiet as my Bosch dishwasher. I had a KitchenAid that died and I liked it but I owned it a long time ago and don't know how quiet they are nowadays.

I guess what I am asking is what French door refrigerator that has a water and ice dispenser in the door, that is VERY QUIET in the mid to high price range of a refrigerator. I need some help as to what I should be looking at. I can't find any information regarding sound ratings.

I was googling "how can Bosch refrigerators be so quiet" when I came across this thread. Admittedly my hearing is not perfect but the only time we can confirm that the fridge is on is when the ice maker fills. It makes no noise when operating! We have a french door with independent temp middle draw. I will add that stainless steel is a pain in the ... to keep clean.

We have purchased a Bosch French door refrigerator with just ice maker. And the first day we plug in we noticed that it make a humming sound non stop. We replaced all our appliances as we doing remodeling in our house. We have the whirlpool side by side for 10 years and we never have a problem. We thought that since we have bought a Bosch dishwasher so also purchased the same brand. I trusted this brand when I live in HongKong and when I live in England. I am so desapointed.

I hate my Bosch fridge!!

Not only does it make rude noises, (very loud farting noises) that i have to explain to my guests the quality is awful but within a month the trim on the doors started to pop off all the time!!

Also, the shelves crack very easily.

I paid almost $3000 for this fridge. I would highly recommend not to purchase a Bosch!!!!

My wife said that when we first got the Bosch that the compressor noise was annoying but after it had cooled down and food was put in it that the compressor noise stops.

I am not an engineer but I would bet that having a full refrigerator dampens the sound and the compressor doesn't have to run that much.

We have owned this refrigerator for a month and it is wonderful!!

We replaced a 10 year old Maytag side by side that would freeze things in the refrigerator drawers and anything placed remotely next to the freezer side. Never again.

Before we decided on the Bosch we picked out a new Kitchen Aid and plugged it in for 24 hours and the freezer wouldn't get any colder than 47 degrees. Sent it it back and bought the Bosch and couldn't be happier.

 Have same fridge and it is not very loud

We replaced an 8 year old Kenmore elite side-by-side that failed with this unit and it is far quieter than our old one.

You may want to make sure it is level, which our installers did for us.

Glad you got a replacement, though... may have just been a lemon.

We just purchased a Kenmore side by side refrigerator that so far I like and is very quiet.

As for the ice maker/water dispenser, our refrigerator has the component in the door which I like a lot.

Our old refrigerator had the ice maker in the freezer and it was constantly getting frosted over.

They told us that the flap was not tight enough and was letting in moisture which caused the problem.

I'm not so sure about the noise issue you are concerned with but I can pass along a bit of advice in the ice/water dispenser department.

If you really have your mind set on a French door refrigerator then you will probably need to let that go. You will find that an in door ice/water dispenser on a French door refrigerator takes up huge amount of interior storage space.

If an the dispenser is a non-negotiable you may want to take a look at a side by side refrigerator instead.
