Mini-Fridge Under the Counter?

Is it possible to place a mini-fridge under a countertop, or do you really need to spend a lot of extra money to buy a specifically designed undercounter fridge?

I've noticed that many of the mini-fridges I've looked at (Avanti, Danby, Haier) say that the unit needs at least five inches of air circulation on the sides and back.

I wouldn't...

I know that it may seem a bit over kill but I wouldn't put a compact in a space that didn't have the proper ventilation. It could easily overheat and burn out without it.
