Maytag Side by Side Refrigerator Model #MSD2550VEW00

The model number of our Maytag side by side refrigerator is MSD2550VEW00 which we bought in June 2008.
We started having problems in August of 2009 with the ice maker and dispenser system. The dispenser would freeze up and no longer dispense ice. We have had the ice maker replaced 3 or 4 times, the dispenser system (including flapper, auger,bucket that holds the ice, air controls, water distribution valve and anything else connected to this system) 3 and 4 times each.
Luckily for us we did buy the extra warranty and we figured that the amount spent in repairs by the warranty company is just about twice the amount we paid for the refrigerator. They would still rather come out every 6 weeks or so to fix the problem instead of replacing it or buying it back.
We always thought Maytag was a top of the line brand but have lost faith in it now and tell everyone not to buy a Maytag or any brand made by the same company.
Latest service call today, May 12, 2011 is number 15 or so.
One of the reasons we bought this is we wanted the crushed ice feature which some of the repairmen told us not to use. The repairman today told us it is opening and closing the freezer door that lets in warm air and causes the ice to melt and refreeze. In other words, don't use the freezer.
So far, the refrigerator part works good.
