Maytag Ice 20 series Side by Side French Door Refrigerator

I have had my Maytag Ice 20 fridge for about 6-7 months now and the fridge is alright. My only gripe is the VERY POOR DESIGN of the ice maker!

The ice backs up and after a while does not come out and blocks up in the actual ice maker tray itself. You have to unblock it yourself by removing ice cubes by your hand and put them into another bowl.

Also when the ice delivers the ice cubes through the spout, they ALWAYS come out around the sides and fall onto the floor!

If it wasn't for the design of the ice maker it would be a nice fridge for the money.

 My Maytag Has an Iced up Ice Maker!

Every two weeks I have to remove the ice bucket on the door of my Maytag refrigerator because its motor is frozen up!

  • First empty the bucket...next try to free the frozen bucket of ice from the door!
  • Next pour water through...very messy!
  • Finally get it out..turn off ice maker wash and dry the ice bucket put it back for another 2 weeks..Turn it on!


The crushed ice can make the problem worse!

I kept trying to make different materials of full gaskets to put between the bucket bottom and the door! Finally made one of thick glossy cardboard.

Now when the motor freezes I can remove the bucket ..save most of the ice cubes wash and dry the bucket..thawing the crusher section. Put it back and I am good for another two weeks!

Makes it a manageable problem! The outlet door on the bottom dispenser is the problem! It allows hot air into the crusher!
