LG Fridge - model LFC23760SW

I had my LG refrigerator model LFC23760SW for 2 years and 2 months when the computer board (a.k.a. mother board) died.


I called LG and was told if I had not had it repaired they would extend the warranty. As all the food rotted I waited and they did not keep their promise.

I would never recommend an LG appliance of any kind due to the shabby way I was treated. I was out $375. I even asked them at least to help with the part...no response.

I only wished I had read some other reviews before I bought. There were many with poor quality complaints.

 DON'T BUY LG REFRIGERATORS

FIVE YEARS AGO TOMORROW (AUGUST 9), I BOUGHT AN LG FRENCH DOOR REFRIGERATOR. TWO YEARS AFTER THE PURCHASE, THE FUSE WENT OUT WHICH COST CLOSE TO $300 TO REPAIR BECAUSE THE FUSE IS SOLDERED TO THE MOTHER BOARD - OBVIOUSLY DESIGNED BY AN IDIOT! THIS MORNING, WOKE UP TO FIND THIS PIECE OF JUNK IS NOT WORKING YET AGAIN. I WILL NOT PAY ANOTHER REPAIR BILL. FORTUNATELY, WE KEPT OUR WHIRLPOOL AS A SECOND FRIG IN THE BASEMENT. 26 YEARS AFTER THIS PURCHASE, IT IS STILL GOING STRONG WITH NARY A REPAIR. AM REPLACING THE LG WITH A WHIRLPOOL AND WILL NEVER EVER BUY ANYTHING WITH THE LG SYMBOL ON IT. MY NIECE IN ANOTHER STATE HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM WITH HER LG (FUSE), SO IT'S OBVIOUSLY A DESIGN FLAW, NOT A RANDOM THING.

Had to buy new fridge after 3 years. After 1 1/2 years replaced fuse on back panel. Soldered in new fuse instead of buying new motherboard. 1 1/2 years later fridge doesnt work at all but fuses are good. I loved the fridge while it was working. I won't buy LG again.

 do NOT purchase LG refrigerator or TVs

two yrs to the date i had it delivered my fridge quit.i had the french door bottom drawer fridge.they requested i have not one not two but three lg certified repairmen.all which cost me 90 dollars per call.nothing ever got fixed first guy said 600 to repair second guy said unrepairable and lg still wanted a third opinion.the third guy came and said yes.sealed system failure.warranty covered 5yrs yes.only for parts if repairable.so instead they cut me a check for 700 for a 1500 plus purchase of the fridge saying they only replace defective appliances if within the first 12 months of initial purchase!!and i purchased extended warranty!!!ridiculous.plus they did not refund my $90 xs 3 service calls THEY said were mandatory in order to be covered for repair or replacement.we also had purchased an lg lcd television which literally blew up and smoke billowed out of the back of it and caught on fire exactly 2 yrs after purchase!never again will i ever purchase any lg product!

Don't spend your money on LG!!

I have owned this LG refrigerator for 1 month short of 3yrs and the computer board died.
Not only do I have to replace hundreds of dollars for now rotted food, since buying dry ice at $20/day cannot maintain the cold for nearly a week while waiting for the most reordered part!!!

This is after having to wait a couple days for a service tech to diagnose that it was what he already knew, the mother board. Since when do refrigerators need electronics to run properly?!?!

What a scam, they said at LG that "electronics do have problems", then why install it?????

Guaranteed to rip you off!!!

LG is going to pay for the part only. This is basically meaningless because I will still have to pay a couple hundred in labor and then replace all my food. Let's not forget the high price of this major appliance in the first place.

Anyone want to make money? Please remake American appliances in our nation, which should also promote jobs, not ones to replace JUNK that should not need replacing. I mean its not something kids are playing with.

This experience does not say much for the rest of the LG appliances line.

 Problems with LG

My LG refrigerator is only 4 years old. The mother board went out just before the one year guarantee ended.

Last night it went out again and I will be out $500.00 to fix it.

If it happens again I will replace it with another brand.

All I can say is DON'T BUY A LG!!

The mother board just went out on my LG Fridge model LFC23760SW, I purchased it 3/3/2009. It's only two years and 3 months old.

Looks like they are making them to only last 2 years. Don't buy an LG appliance.
