Kenmore Elite 3-Door Bottom Freezer Fridge #795.77543600

Kenmore Elite - Model #795.77543600 is a 3-door, bottom freezer model, and here are some of the main problems.

  1. An Ice Maker that does not shut itself off in time, resulting in over-flow ice cubes being knocked down, either behind the freezer drawer, or onto the floor;
  2. The display on the door going dark and therefore unworkable, unless I turn a light on to see it;
  3. The main refrigerator doors may block each other, resulting in them not closing properly;
  4. The refrigerator light being obtrusive on the top, restricting the use of the top shelf;
  5. A produce drawer that does not open easily, and is difficult to close:
  6. Severe frost in the freezer, though we don't know why, unless the freezer door did not close properly; it looked like it snowed in there - what a mess!

ELITE - What a joke!!

But mostly, this is an opinion of Sears in general; they did not keep their word about resolving the problems, and their upper level corporate customer service is an abomination!!
In out experience we found that they don't do anything that they say they're going to do.

So my advice from my experience with Sears, and their products: STAY FAR, FAR, FAR AWAY!!!!!

Lights overheating
by: Anonymous

The lights in ours just overheated and melted the cover and burned through the insulation above. This regrigerator is a recall item - Sears will fix the problem for the life of the frige or replace it (ours is to be replaced since a hole was created in the meltdown).

Overweighting light circuit
by: Cgmic

I'm an electronic engineer and had same problem six years ago with overheating light circuit and melted plastic covers. Sears would not cover repair, even after I told them how. I disposed of the cover and the lamps, purchased two low wattage LED lights and installed them. They don't overheat, so don't care if they stay on, problem solved. Also, I have never purchased anything from Sears since.

Over heating hazard
by: John

We have experienced the same problem with lights that do not turn off when the doors are shut, has occurred at least 3 times. Called Sears and for $95.00 they will come out an assess the problem (not fix for that price just asses the problem).
And since this is a hazard I am on a list for quick response or emergency response and today is Oct 2 and my appointment is for Oct 17th.
