GE Charging Too Much for Replacement Parts

by Chris S.
(Ottawa, Ont., Canada)

Our GE Medallion refrigerator has been working great for about 21 years but GE charges too much for their replacement parts.

We are generally satisfied, but in that time have had to replace the handles twice. And that is the problem. Handles get used a lot, so one can expect them to wear out.

What is disgraceful is GE's price gouging on the replacement parts - $85 per handle, for a small piece of plastic that probably does not cost more than a buck or two to make.

My refrigerator repair man said that GE is notorious for this, and that other companies like Frigidaire provide replacement parts at a much more reasonable cost.
