French Door Refrigerator MFF2055yem

FRUSTRATED: Our two year old Maytag French door refrigerator, model MFF2055YEM, bottom right hinge on refrigerator door failed and door will not close. No parts available. Not covered by warranty or by Home Depot extended warranty ($150.00). This was a $1,300.00 unit. Two years old, needs to be replaced.

Thanks Gary -- we're wondering if you've been able to contact Maytag (or Whirlpool, since they're likely the manufacturer) directly regarding this issue? Has anyone else had this same problem? We'd like to know, because if Maytag isn't making parts available for a two year old refrigerator, that's a problem we'd like to make them aware of!

Maytag disowned the problem before Home Depot. They were useless. The problem with the door is that the pivot point of the hinge, on the bottom of the door is only held in place by the foam insulation in the door. That bond came loose and the pivot collapsed within the door.
