PROS: We loved the 21.7 cu. ft. of space in this well designed machine. The temperature controls are easy to use and accurately adjust the interior temperature.

The Gallon sized door bins were extremely convenient. It runs quiet and the factory installed icemaker produced great tasting ice at a pretty impressive clip.

It's also Energy Star qualified.

CONS: Our only complaint was the ice had a bit of a funny taste initially. But after a few runs, it went backt to normal.

MSRP: $1209.99 for the stainless model, but under $1,000.00 for white, bisque and black.

2) Whirlpool Gold GB2SHDXT Bottom Freezer:

OVERALL: The Whirlpool GB2SHDXT performed quite well in our testing. This particular model is extremely popular with consumers considering its extremely affordable price tag.

The stainless steel exterior adds a bit of flair to this fridge that already makes waves. A sister model (model number Whirlpool Gold GB9SHKXM) is one of the highest rated Whirlpool bottom freezer refrigerators with Consumer Reports.

PROS: From the Easy Tote adjustable door bins, to the easy to read electronic controls and Dual Up-Front Temperature Control Knobs, there's a lot to love with this refrigerator.

The Accu-Chill™ System with Foam-In-Place Doors provides accurate temperature control and the Slide-out SpillGuard™ Glass Shelves provides ample and accessable storage space.

CONS: The factory installed icemaker worked a bit slower than we would have liked.

OVERALL: The Whirlpool GX5SFDXT is one of the best in the Gold Refrigerator line at temperature performance and overall energy efficiency. And at just under $1,500.00, this french door refrigerator won't exactly break the bank.

PROS: This Whirlpool Fridge Freezer has plenty of storage space.

The spillproof shelving and temperature controls make this refrigerator an excellent performer.

The humidity controlled produce drawers keep veggies garden fresh and can be easily adjusted.

This fridge comes with a 1 year manufacturers warranty.

CONS: This fridge has no pullout shelving and was a bit noisier than expected.

MSRP: $1599-1799.99 depending on the color.

4) Whirlpool Gold GD5NHAXS[Q]Side by Side Refrigerator Freezer:

OVERALL: The Whirlpool GD5NHAXS surprised us by how quiet it was as well as how well it maintained a constant temperature. The usual complaint with most Whirlpool refrigerators is the noise, but this model proved Whirlpool can in fact keep the noise level at a minimum.

PROS: This side by side refrigerator has plenty of great styling and capacity. (It's available in stainless steel as well).

The pullout freezer storage shelving and gallon door storage come in very handy. The front face is easy to keep clean.

CONS: The ice maker could work a bit faster and it would be beneficial to have split shelving in the refrigerator, but overall this fridge performed well.
