Overall: The Samsung RFG238AARS counter depth refrigerator really is an easy to use refrigerator with all of the extra added features included in it. We actually own this refrigerator and can talk about it from a personal experience.

It comfortable holds enough food for a family of 4 though if you eat a great deal of produce you will probably have to shop every 5 days or so. While the drawers and door shelving are great for organization, the fact that it is counter depth makes things a bit narrower than in a regular refrigerator.

For us, we preferred the sleek look over the extra storage not just for the look but also for the smaller footprint (we needed the room to be able to walk around it). We’ve had it for over 6 months and would recommend it highly.

Capacity: 23 cu. ft. (Samsung says it’s 23 cu. ft. but Lowe’s for some reason has it listed as 22. 5 cu. ft.)

Notable Features:

1. Two Ice Makers: This feature is fantastic if you live in a warmer climate where ice is used all year round and in almost every drink.

   We also really like the fact that one of the Samsung RFG238AARS ice makers has a dispenser on it to keep dirty little hands out of the ice and the other is exposed enough to scoop out large amounts of ice quickly and easily.

   Even if you use lots of ice, you will never run out. To our own surprise we have actually had to turn off the lover ice maker from time to time. (If it gets too full 2-3 ice cubes can spill out when you open or close the freezer drawer. Not a major thing, just a small annoyance that was easily fixed by turning it off on the control panel.)

   
   

2. Easy to Organize: The Samsung RFG238AARS really feels like there is a place for everything:
   • The milk goes in the right door with the gallon storage and the left door for the half gallons

   • Fruits and veggies each get their own bin though we eat more veggies so we combine them and they still seem to last a long time

   • The full width drawer below the 2 crispers we just mentioned is great for meats and cheeses. We use the divider to separate the two which by the way is easy to remove and change.

   
   

3. Looks Great: While we don’t actually have our Samsung RFG238AARS surrounded by cabinets to make it look like a built in refrigerator, it still majorly updated our kitchen (thank goodness because it looked like it was done in 1987 before we put it in there!). It is also quite easy to clean.

   If you plan on using it in a way to make it look more built it, we’re sure it will really make your kitchen look amazing.

   
   

4. Freezer Organization: The freezer has a few great features that make it easier to use. The upper drawer holds the ice on the left side and has room for storage on the right. We use it for our everyday items such as breakfast for the kids.

   Then there is also a small rack that sits just opposite the handle of the freezer drawer. It is perfect for small items like batteries (they supposedly last longer when kept in the freezer) or ice packs for little ones who are forever bumping into or falling onto things.

   As for the lower bin, we chose to take out the separator to allow us to use every inch of space but it can be a bit of a hassle pulling everything out to find something at the bottom. Regardless of this (as this is an issue of most bottom freezer refrigerators) it really does hold a surprising amount of food, even frozen pizzas!

Efficiency: Is Energy Star rated

MSRP: $3299 is the suggested retail price on this item. Normally we would say shop around and you will find a really good deal on this but the only place that is currently carrying this model is Lowes.

Until this changes the best deal will be at Lowe’s for around 10% off of the MSRP. Though if you can get your hands on a Lowes 10% off coupon for moving in to a new home then get it because that can bring the price of this fridge down by close to $300.
